Dr Eugenie Poh is the Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Eye Max Centre.

She was formerly a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and is currently a Visiting Consultant at TTSH. She was a Clinical Tutor in 2006 with her Alma Mater at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and has been a Senior Clinical Lecturer since 2018. She was Clinical Teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University from 2019.

Dr Poh specialises in cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, retinal disease treatment and the treatment of general ophthalmology conditions. She sub-specialises in oculoplastic surgery, with a special interest and expertise in eyelid reconstruction surgery and lacrimal surgery.

Dr Poh graduated in 2002 from the Faculty of Medicine, NUS. She completed the Ophthalmology Exit examinations and Ophthalmology training in record time, allowing her to be one of the youngest certified Ophthalmologists in Singapore. She obtained her Ophthalmology specialist degrees from Singapore and Edinburgh. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Having completed her specialist training in Singapore, she went on to complete advanced training fellowships in oculoplastic surgery and trained with some of the top oculoplastic experts in the world. She was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship by the Ministry of Health in 2010, and went on to complete a 12-month clinical and surgical fellowship in Oculoplastics, Orbital and Lacrimal Surgery at the South Australian Institute of Ophthalmology, University of Adelaide, Australia. She trained under the mentorship of world-renowned Professor Dinesh Selva, Dr Garry Davis and Dr James Muecke. In Australia, she trained with a special interest in eyelid reconstruction surgery and endoscopic lacrimal surgery for tear duct disorders.

She has frequently been invited to give expert symposium lectures and talks both locally and overseas. She has been a regular invited speaker in Seoul, South Korea at the Congress of Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery since 2016. She enjoys imparting her knowledge through informative and concise lectures which have been very well-received by her peers and senior colleagues both locally and internationally.

She has trained and mentored numerous local and overseas Clinical Fellows in oculoplastics while she was at TTSH. She was also the Course Coordinator and Lecturer for the Conjoint Singapore Polytechnic-University of Manchester Optometry Degree Programme between 2009 and 2014.

Dr Poh’s excellent clinical skills and trustworthy approach have received recognition from her colleagues and peers whereby she was appointed a Member of the Clinical Ethics Committee by the Medical Board at TTSH in 2022. She was also a member of the TTSH Patient Education Steering Committee since 2022.

She has given numerous oral presentations on eyelid reconstruction and lacrimal surgery and at orbital disease symposiums in Europe and America. She has also contributed significantly to the ophthalmology scientific community with numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals that are frequently cited as references by the ophthalmology scientific community.

Dr Poh enjoys doing sports and photography during her free time. She is also an avid jogger and enjoys cycling. She also believes in keeping herself current and abreast of new scientific research findings on a regular basis so that she can offer the best possible care for her patients.
