The $99 cataract screening includes:
VISUAL ACUITY TEST
Determines the smallest letters you can read on a Snellen chart placed 6 metres (20 feet) away.
TONOMETRY TEST
Measures the pressure inside your eyes to screen for glaucoma.
MANIFEST REFRACTION
Measures your eye prescription (eg myopia, astigmatism) with trial lenses.
PUPIL DILATION
Administers eyedrops to increase the size of your pupils to fully examine the optic nerve and retina.
SLIT LAMP EXAMINATION
Our eye surgeon will examine the anterior eye health including your eyelids, cornea, and natural lens.
CONSULTATION WITH THE EYE SURGEON
Our eye surgeon will share screening results, recommend cataract surgery options and answer any questions you may have.

Why is my vision blurry despite updating my prescription glasses?
Cataract is an age-related eye disease. Most people above the age of 45 years old will start to have some amount of cataract in the eye. It occurs when the natural lens in our eye starts to get cloudy as a person ages resulting in blurring of vision. As cataract progresses, the vision will worsen, which is uncorrectable with prescription glasses. The only proven effective way to treat cataract is to consider cataract surgery.
What is the duration of cataract surgery and is it painful?
Cataract surgery usually takes about 30 minutes per eye and is generally painless and comfortable as it will be performed under IV-sedation.
How often do I need to return for reviews?
Your cataract surgeon will usually review you at Day 1, Week 1 and Months 1 to 2 post-surgery. It is important to return for reviews with your cataract surgeon to ensure the eyes are healing well with no complication and infection.
Do I need to use glasses after cataract surgery?
These days, there are many choices when it comes to the the type of intraocular lenses (IOLs) used during cataract surgery. We offer customised options including multifocal, extended depth of focus (EDOF) IOLs, toric (astigmatic-correcting) and monofocal IOLs to reduce your independence on glasses post-surgery.
